PALMYRA - J. Larry Robe= rts, 65, of Palmyra, died at 10:47 p.m. Monday,= May 26, 2003, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Graveside service= s will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Durham Cemetery in Durham. The Rev. Elmer Hagood will offi= ciate. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W.

Visitation will b= e from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Mr. Roberts was b= orn March 18, 1938, in Maywood to John E. and Ethel Lankford Roberts.

Survivors include= one son; four daughters; five brothers, Stanley Roberts of Arroyo Grande, Calif= ., his twin, L. Lyle Roberts of Seaside, Ore., Ivan Roberts of Ewing, Harold Roberts of Monticello and Stephen Roberts of Cape Girardeau; and two sister= s, Shirley Nelson of Maywood and Karen Lampe of St. Peters. =

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Melvin, Bob, Jim and Brad Roberts; and= one sister, Nettie Warning.

Mr. Roberts was a self-employed carpenter and plumber for many years. He was a graduate of Ewing High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for six ye= ars and was on the U.S.S. Dennis Buckley and the U.S.S. Henry W. Tucker. He was= a member of Boots-Dickson Post No. 174 of the American Legion and Norfolk-Smi= th Post 11101 of the V.F.W., both of Palmyra. He was a Baptist by faith.
